She came in our lives on 04.08.2013
After Caka tragic death,I had an urge to fulfill a great emptiness I felt.
I knew that no one can replace Caka , but I kept looking for tortie cats.I read a lot about them, there is a belief that they are special.
I wanted to take the already formed an adult cat, from a shelter if possible, because although they are ok in shelter ,they are hungry for love and attention .Then I saw her picture on one animal shelter site .
I was in contact with the shelter owner weeks before my final decision ,and I insisted of Fiv and Felv tests, because I have other cats and didn’t want to endager any of them .She never mentioned any health problems!
Antonia was about four years old When she got home she was in very poor condition, she had poor apetite, was very skinny, had a bad breath and diarea.
I called vet the very same evening when she got home ,and she was given antibiotics. After a week she was better, but when we stopped antibiotic treatment she was back when we started. She also had very bad gingivitis.
In the meantime from the owner of the shelter where she was, I found out that she was given Lemod Depo injection for gingivitis!!
I consulted another vet,and after a thorough chek out,and a various blood analyzis she was diagnosed an immune disease called Lymphocytic Plasmacytic Gingivitis.
She needeed several surgical interventions, and almost all of her teeth to be extracted..She is now on treatment with corticosteroide called Pronisone.
Update 07.10.2013
All theet exept canines from upper jaw were extracted two weeks ago.We should repeat the same procedure in three weeks for lower jaw.(scheduled for 12.10.2013)Because her gums are in such bad shape she was bleeding a lot,and vet gave her dicynone injection, and antibiotics.
Despite of her condition She is an extraordinary wonderful and smart cat, very cuddly , but with tortitude of course
ANTONIJA
