Caka came in to my life, when it was pretty much unsettled . Back at home I already had Cica and Mala, and at a friend 's house across town small kittens in the garage, rescued from the street and advertised for adoption .
One evenynig, when I was getting out off friends car ,I heard a loud “meow”, under the garbage container .
Very loud and shrill .
And just as a friend grumbled , not to look, because I already had a garage full of kittens , I looked anyway ..
She was distraught, with undredd fur ,but still very charming .
She was the most unusual cat I have ever seen, in time I found out that she was the best cat ,I have ever met .
She was special in appearance and character.
She was very big, had a big head, and if she wasn’t tortie(only females have this colour combination),I would presume that she was a male.
The vet sad that she was about 8 years old , but in fact she was older.
That night I fed her ,and she calmed down. I offered her to get into the garage, but she didnt want to,and I left home.Caka however, was apparently firmly set to charm us.
For ten days she came regularly to eat , then we went to a trip, and I asked a friends neighbor to feed her and kittens in the garage. When I came back she was there! And I kept on feeding her whenever I could, and that was all for quite a time.
Until one day, I can not remember how didi it happen, she climbed upstairs and got in my friends apartment.
She had all manners of house cat ,she liked to sit at my lap.I have managed to persuade my friend that he let her stay overnight .It was october and nights were becoming cold. And Caka became halfdomestic cat..She came and went, whenever she wanted, and when weather became bad she spent more time inside.
Because of her size, we speculated that perhaps she was pregnant. But she wasn’t.
She could recognize the sound of the car when we arrived, and she would run like crazy Sometimes she wanted to get out in the middle of the night, and nothing could stop her.
Neighborhood where my friend lived was friendly,so Caka enjoyed full freedom overthere. In short period of time she became beatiful. In time I was getting to know her better, and discovered her wonderful character. She has never shown, the slightest aggression, altough she used to grumble when she wanted to tell me that she is not satisfied. She trusted us, and loved us ,but she also love her freedom.
It was also amazing how she adapted to us, as she was with us from the very first day.
One evening after almost a year of our idyll[DM1] , she seemed unusaly upset, asked to go outside, but I run after her just a few minutes after.I didn’t see her, so I called her name and to my surprise she showed up with a kitten in her mouth, and layed it down in front of my feet. I brought her and the kitten in, and settled them comfortably.I thought perhaps she will gave birth to more kittens but that was all.
It was a black and white male cat ,my Coka .
Cakawas a wonderful cat , but bad mother.Maybe it was because of her age,or something else but after a two weeks she wouldn’t nurse Coka .
We had to feed him on bottle .
I took Coka and brought him at my home with my children, aunt and Mala and Cica. He slowly grew and turned into a beautiful, surreal handsome tomcat .
We neutered Caka , and everything was slowly coming back to normal.
Then one day I found out that my son has diabetes . I couldnt no longer live in two places, and traveling every day across town. My friend agreed that we should try living together.Decision was that we would live in my appartment.
So Caka came to my house 31.12.2010.Her meeting Coka after more then six months was moving
She recognized him,and she gave him many kisses. My two cats Cica and mala were not so thrilled with a new family member.
As it was winter Caka tolerated a indoor life .I hoped that she would became indoorcat.
In that period of life she was constatly suprising me with something new about her.
She didn’t like when somebody shouts,She used to jump on my head if I shouted on my children.Sometimes only slightly stinging me at my legs ,if shouting was not so loud.
Even so she was dear and charming when she did that.
When spring came, she became determined to go out.She was meowing for hours by the door, even so I live on the third floor. It was very frustrating.
One day I took her downstairs, waited for a while and brought her back upstairs.
Every day she stayed an hour or two,and then she went back home.
Neighbours at my building soon got to know her,and they used to let her inside, and she climbed upstairs meowing in front of my door.
We did never let her stay outside overnight.
In winter she hardly went outside, but when the weather was nice she used to stay outside quite a lot.
Most of the time she spent in front of the building, always letting me know that she is there, but never wanted to go upstairs when I wanted her, only when she wanted.
We managed that more than three years.
Untill her last summer 2013.
I noticed gray hair on her cheeks. She wasn’t fast like before. For the first time I thought that she is quite older then we first thought.
I was afraid of her going out and ,I hoped that she would give up in time. But she wanted to go out more than ever.Last few days she would literaly came in for ten minutes to eat, and again impatiently asked to go outside .
And on that she wasn’t at front door,as she always was.We looked for her and called. I went down milons of times over the night.
The next day, again nothing ,we looked .called…The third day, again I circled around the building, yelled her name, one woman said that there is dead cat under the tree ,two meters in front of my building.
It was 01.07.2013
It was my Caka.We never found out what actually happened.Only thing that I was sure of that she wasn’t there the day before. Her body was completely preserved, not even close to something that should be dead for three days.
Ten days after the neighboors cat was found on the same location with an identical injury .
She had no external injuries , except that it had gutted the inside of the thighs .
It was a big shock to all us.We buried her at the bank of river Sava .
I will never forget her. I will never get over her death.
She was the best cat in the world. My beautiful big tortie is always in my heart.
Caka
